My Portfolio

Welcome, I am James R. Downs, and you are currently reading my portfolio, while it is being made. This portfolio will cover many points about my education, any credentials, and likely some projects I have worked on as proof of concept to my skills. This portfolio itself will be one of those proofs of concept, as it itself is a project, an exercise in understanding and executing various functions used in web design. Below, you can find a more elaborate look into some of my work and schooling, and my two main contacts, should you be interested in contacting me directly.

Who am I?

Hello, my name is James Downs, and i am currently a student at State College of Florida and someone who aspires to work in the field of programming. I have been unfortunately limited in my pursuit of this goal because my previous schools had no classes dedicated to coding, at least not while I was there, so my experience in various programming languages in limited. However, this will not dissuade me from trying to learn all I can from my courses. This, however, doesn't mean that I wasted my time in school, as I attained certifications in basic cybersecurity, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere during my schooling.

Why did I choose coding?

Well, coding, and programming in general has always been very interesting to me. I like to know how and why things work like they do, and as I have been using the internet essentially my whole life, I always wanted to understand it at a deeper level than just a random user. I also want to be the one making projects, such as web pages and video games, something I can look back on and be proud of how much progress I will have made.
